Suzanne Houck

A native Virginian, Suzanne Houck, has been involved in the appraisal and sale of antiques and art for over twenty years. She learned the business apprenticing under another highly experienced appraiser. In 1992, she received the International Society of Appraisers’ Certified Appraiser of Personal Property designation in Appreciable Residential Contents. She is a graduate of Sotheby’s Educational Studies (London) course, “The Decorative Arts of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries.”

She also attended Hollins University where she received a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. This individualized degree focused on the decorative and fine arts, specifically American Furniture and Art from the Eighteenth through the Twentieth Centuries. In 1996, she co-authored and taught the course “Appraisal of Residential Contents” for those appraisers seeking certification through the International Society of Appraisers.

In addition to providing a wide range of appraisals for individuals and businesses, Suzanne has been an estate liquidator and expert witness in legal cases. Since moving west in 1999, she has also worked as a director and fine art consultant in galleries throughout the Southwestern United States. She now operates Houck Asset Verification, an appraisal company specializing in personal property appraisal solutions.
