David J. LeBeau, AM (ASA), MFA
David J. LeBeau MFA AM USPAP is an independent fee appraiser and is an Accredited Appraiser in the American Society of Appraisers [since 1978] certified in the Specialties of Antiques and Residential Contents General and is Past President of the NYC Chapter of the ASA (1989/90).
Currently the appraiser is USPAP recertified as of August 2006 and is the New England Representative for Bonhams Auctioneers, and is the owner of David J. LeBeau Appraisal Services at the above address. Previously he was an Auctioneer and Head of the General Sales & the Arms & Armor Departments with Phillips Fine Art Auctioneers of N.Y.C. and was employed as a consultant to the Arms & Armor Department of Christie's East of NYC and was employed as a consultant to Lubin Galleries of NYC.
The appraiser was a member of the founding faculty of the Appraisal Studies Program at Yeshiva University (NYC). The faculty and curriculum were transferred to New York University' School of Continuing Education.
Currently the appraiser is part time faculty at Berkshire Community College Division of Lifelong Learning.
He is a retired Adjunct Assistant Professor of Arts N.Y.U. and has taught Appraisal Subjects at Long Island University's; C.W. Post College, Brooklyn Center and The Campus at Home. He has also teaches appraisal subjects at Berkshire (MA) Community College,and has taught at BCC's Elderhostel, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Division of Lifetime Learning and the adult education programs of Central Berkshire County and the Chappaqua (Westchester County. N.Y.) Boards of Education. He has taught The Appraisal Foundation's course, "Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and Professional Appraisal Ethics" for the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers.
The appraiser is the author of several published articles on the subjects of antiques and appraising antiques for several newspapers that are dedicated to arts, antiques and interior decorating.
The American Society of Appraisers published his five page technical article, "A Method of Standardization of Terminology in the American and English Decorative Arts", in the Spring 1995 edition of "The Personal Property Journal".
