Jennifer Lacker
Like many in the antiques field, Jennifer Lacker became hooked as a youth wandering the flea markets in New Hampshire. After college she found museum work at the Currier Gallery of Art, cataloguing their collection of decorative arts. She completed her Master’s Degree at Boston University’s American and New England Studies Program, concentrating on furniture, painting, decorative arts, and architecture. She worked with collections at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Society for Preservation of New England Antiquities, The Museum of the China Trade and Forest Hills Cemetery. Her career went a different direction as she joined a large restoration shop in Boston. She has been in private practice in Boston and now Stonington Connecticut for 23 years. In 2004, she completed the certificate in Art and Appraisal Studies from the Rhode Island School of Design. As an appraiser she brings her “X-ray” vision of a restorer when examining a piece and enjoys damage/loss claims. She is most passionate in teaching people about woods and finishes, especially shellac.
